Ted Syverson at Renown Health Discusses Changes in Denials Recovery

Learn how approaches to back-end revenue recovery and A/R management are changing from Ted Syverson, Interim VP of Revenue Cycle at Renown Health.

What are some shifts you are seeing in approaches to managing A/R?

Ted Syverson: "Back-end denial recovery is becoming more difficult these days because there are so many fires for us to put out. So we're really leveraging technology more–– looking at AI, looking at analytics––and creating internal teams (to better examine root-cause issues) that involve both revenue owners as well as physicians. The clinical side has to be represented. And then also looking externally, you have to have the right partners in place: vendors that specialize. Regard it with a lot of humility. ‘What can we do? What can't we do? What are we good at? What are we not good at? And how do we engage as a team to get things solved?’”
